Telecom Mandate Update
The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC), Department of Telecommunications (DoT), has finalized the operational schedule for MTCTE Phase-V. All telecom equipment deployed within Indian telecom networks or imported for enterprise infrastructure must strictly adhere to Essential Requirements (ERs) covering EMI/EMC, safety, technical requirements, and national security parameters.
Scope of Products Under MTCTE Phase-V
Phase-V broadens mandatory testing to cover high-speed optical transmission equipment, 5G base stations, enterprise routers, IP security cameras, and satellite communication transceivers.
Enterprise & Carrier Core
Core routers, SD-WAN controllers, DWDM switches, and enterprise firewall gateways.
5G & Wireless Infrastructure
gNodeB, Small Cells, massive MIMO antennas, and Point-to-Multipoint radios.
Mandatory Security Testing (ITSAR)
Under the National Cyber Security Directive, designated telecom categories must undergo security evaluations by National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS) designated laboratories against Indian Telecom Security Assurance Requirements (ITSAR).
